Withdrawals
Withdrawals initiated by Authors
Authors may withdraw their manuscript at any stage of the editorial process by using the “Withdraw manuscript” option in the Editorial System. The corresponding Author is required to provide a specific reason for withdrawal and is obliged to inform co-Authors that a withdrawal request was submitted.
Withdrawals initiated by the Editorial Office
Manuscripts can be withdrawn by the Editorial Office if:
– after acceptance, evidence of scientific misconduct is found;
– Authors fail to provide signed license agreements within 30 days after acceptance;
– Authors fail to pay the article-processing charge (APC) within 30 days after acceptance;
– Authors repeatedly fail to correct the galley proofs within the specified timeframe or cease communication with the Editorial Office before the publication process is completed.
Refund policy (withdrawals after the APC has already been paid)
Once the APC has been paid, Authors are not entitled to a refund. The policy applies in the situations when:
– the manuscript is withdrawn by Authors after the APC is paid (but before publication), regardless of the reason for withdrawal;
– the manuscript is withdrawn by the Editorial Office due to Authors' failure to adequately correct errors;
– the manuscript is retracted after publication due to Authors' error or misconduct.
The APC is not a publication fee, but an article-processing charge. It covers the costs of peer review, statistical review, editing, and typesetting. Most of this work is completed before the APC is paid.
In exceptional cases, Authors may appeal to the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision is final.
Withdrawal after acceptance due to funding limitations
When submitting a manuscript, Authors are informed that the APC is charged if the article is accepted for publication (checkbox in the Editorial System).
We ask Authors to ensure they have funds to pay the APC in case the manuscript is accepted.
Please note that, apart from the precisely defined cases (Publication charges), our journal offers neither APC waivers nor discounts, including discounts for researchers from lower-income countries and countries against which international sanctions have been imposed.
We are sorry for any inconvenience, but the Publisher of Dent Med Probl – Wroclaw Medical University (WUM) – is not obliged to be registered in any foreign databases or systems for the payment to be proceeded. Please note that Authors cannot demand from WUM any additional financial data, documents or extracts to complete the payment.
The only acceptable form of payment is a wire transfer, and all the necessary payment details are available HERE.
Withdrawing a published paper
Withdrawal is possible during the initial verification process, from the peer-review process or after acceptance, before publication. Withdrawing a paper after publication is called a retraction. For details, please go to Complaints, corrections, retractions, removals.
